Let us introduce ourselves:
We are a club, whose members are strongly involved with the beautifull hobby of railroad modelling.
Since it’s founding in 1978, the club is highly active in promoting this hobby. You might have visited a “Rail” exhibition in the past. The first series, held in the Brabanthallen, we’re organized and driven by us. These exhibitions were very succesfull. It turned too big to handle for us and we decided to turn back to our roots: railway modelling. So we sold the concept and the Rail exhibitions are now organized by a commercial company.
The goal of our club is to provide our members the ability to practice the railroad modelling hobby within the club community.
The club uses different methods and ways to achieve this goal:
The club uses different methods and ways to achieve this goal:
- Almost all activities take place in a project. A project can be the building of a layout or building scale models of buildings. The club provides the money that is needed to complete a project. However, the project member must try to finish the project with a minimu on costs. In stead of buying ready-to-use trees, they will built them their selves, using all kinds of material.
- All members can participate in any project they like, depending on their skills, preferences and interests. There are enough projects, so every member will find something that fulfils his or hers wishes and needs.
- Members can teach other members their skills and vice versa. The flexibility in the participation in the projects provides a means to optimize the common knowledge.
- Members can hand in proposals for new projects. If these are approved by the members reunion, the project can start.
- The club has an extensive library with books, magazines, videos and catalogs for members to read and watch.
- The in-house pub, called “Railcafé” provides the ambiance for conversation and socializing between members
Promotion of our hobby is now achieved by opening our club house for the public every once a year, mostly in the last weekend in March, except when this weekend falls together with Easter.
